Twitter Applications

This week I joined twitter to see how quickly followers would come. So far, in 2 days I have 42.

I also started looking for other twitter applications to help me. These are the ones I found so far.

www.twellow.com is like a Yellow Pages and, at the time or writing, is totally free! Twellow is a directory of public Twitter accounts, with hundreds of categories and search features to help you find people who matter to you.

Registering allows you to update your Twellow profile and categories, add links to your other social media profiles, create an extended 2000 character bio with whatever information and links you would like to add, and easily follow other Twitter users right from Twellow!

Next is www.twitterfeed.com where you can set up your blog to feed directly via RSS to your Twitter account. So every time you make a blog post, it gets tweeted automatically on your behalf.

Then we have www.TweetGlide.com which is really clever!

You get the url service which converts your long url into a short one, all done with a single click on your mouse. With the short url services integrated, you also get advanced tracking.

This enables you to see how many times people click on your links, and from which tweets they clicked on them. Very useful for tracking.

You also have Facebook integration so that when you tweet, you can also automatically post to your Facebook wall.

With TweetGlide you can tweet more than 140 characters. With most other Twitter clients, you can only use 140 characters, because that’s default at Twitter.

With TweetGlide you can use as many characters as you want. The first 80 characters will be posted on Twitter, followed by:

“To read the rest of this post click here: http://domain.com/45g567”

So when people click on the link, they’re taken to the TweetGlide blog to read the rest of the message.

Soon TweetGlide will also have a multiple account function and, with all the followers in your profile you can bulk follow or bulk unfollow.

These, and many other features, will help save your time when using Twitter.

There’s also a feature that makes this software very interesting as an internet marketing tool.

Finally, there's www.friendfeed.com which is an automating tool you can use in conjunction with Twitter.

It’s like a hub where you can set up links to all your other Social Media accounts. Friendfeed collects information from those accounts and publishes it in your Friendfeed feed.

Although Friendfeed is a topic almost in itself, I mention it here particularly because of it's ability to link your Twitter and Facebook accounts among others.

If you have a Facebook account and you link it, and your Twitter Accounts, in Friendfeed, then what will happen is that all your posts in Twitter will be posted on your wall at Facebook.

It means you can run two social media accounts via one to save you time.
